Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Serving and helping customers on the shop floor , stocking and filling the shelves , merchandising the bays when the new plans come down on think time. Opening and closing the safe. Distributing jobs to staff when each person comes to start their shifts . Working with fresh food and date checking , stock rotation. Taking in deliveries, working the correct equipment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I like the program I am on since it’s helping towards my confidence with I suffer with due to my anxiety. I also have a lovely tutor that goes out their way to help me when ever I get stuck or doesn’t mind repeating information a different way if I don’t fully understand.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Learnt that I can do jobs that I might not of thought I could do or even have the confidence in myself , where learning with lifetime gives me the extra knowledge I’m that I would need to boost the my confidence in the role that I am in . Going from a sales assistant to supervisor was a learn curve.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is structured well, all work is now done on a aptem site where everything your learning is easy to get to , messages to my tutor are easy to find and it’s straightforward to see what work needs to do first on the learning plan. My tutor also makes sure work is completed in a timely manner so keep use on track .
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I get lots of help from my employer/ manager during my course .
With changing shifts around to do my work , doing some of the work in shift time. Being there to support me if I need to talk about it. Also if I need help completing a piece of work they’re happy to help if they can .
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
At the moment i get lot of support from my tutor due to being behind with certain work after getting a new tutor .
But it’s been easy enough to do with the support and help from her to get through some of the work quicker than I would normally .
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The course gives you the knowledge that maybe you wouldn’t originally know or genuinely think about when doing your role, for example , different laws , different types of questions , how body language can be negative. it gives you the confidence if you want to advance in your career through out that company or even a different one.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There really isn’t any extra-curricular activities where I work. Sometimes when someone goes through something monumental, e.g a wedding , having a baby . We get together as a team to do something nice for them e.g doing a collection . Also sometimes we get rewarded for how good we are as a store and given vouchers to get food for the team:

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Poundland to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It’s a place to gain confidence in areas you might not be strong in, meet new people, whether it’s new friends or just generally meeting and helping other people. Being able to work as a team or even having the chance to progress in your career to be supervisors, assistant managers, managers or even job roles in head office.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Poundland?
Just be yourself , work hard with the tasks that have been set to you by you management team, ask questions if you’re unsure about that task.
Make sure you ask what task your doing when first thing don’t assume your doing the job you did the day before or something that you would normally, there could always be different priorities for that day.
