Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I arrive at work around 7:30am in the morning. I start work at 8:00am. At the moment I am a first year apprentice doing hand-fitting. My day consists of precise measurements, drillings and filling down to the correct shape and size according to the drawings given. My day finally ends at 4:30pm.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Personally, I feel like this programme and apprentice is very rewarding. I enjoy all aspects of the apprenticeship especially learning new skills that I do not previously have. I have made new friends that I get along with and the tutors/managers provide support to help me understand what I am doing.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new skills during my first year as a BMW Apprentice such as welding, Electrical, Electronic and many more. I have also developed my independence such as being time organized and making sure that I am all prepared ready for the day ahead. Such as driving myself to work and back.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme I am currently doing is very well organised. I have college on a Monday and then in the workshop every four days after that. I know what I am doing every week and stay up to date with the work that I am given. The structure of the programme is very well organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The support that I receive from my employer is exceptional. I always feel like I have someone to go to if I am confused. This can be either my manager or tutors down in the workshop as well. I have monthly reviews so my employer can make sure that I am doing well or if I need any further support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A lot.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The training that I am receiving provides the fundamental knowledge of what the job role will be in the future. All this training will help me perform better in the long term and allow me to perform to the optimal level that I personally can. At this current moment, in my first year, the training is steady but a good challenge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Me and some of my colleagues have decided to create a football team after work in which we play a 5-side football match that is not taken to seriously but a good opportunity to network and get to know other employees. Other activities such as charity work and helping out on event days are also possible.
