Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role incorporates working alongside current employees, working on tasks independently and within teams to ensure the operation runs smoothly. We work in Baggage, Logistics and Loading from start to finish I.e from where passengers arrive and drop their luggage to transporting these to the aircraft and are loaded.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I highly enjoy this program as I feel this has developed skills I believe I had before. I’m constantly learning new techniques and technologies used around the airport. Meeting new people within lots of different departments of British Airways has been eye-opening to the opportunities that this apprenticeship holds.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned and developed new skills consistently within my apprenticeship with support from colleagues and Trainers. A few examples would be Time-keeping skills, Teamwork skills, Being able to voice my own opinion, abiding with safety regulations and Airport regulations.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is very well structured so that it feels like every day is a day to learn new things. The program includes many different types of opportunities to develop a career.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

This Apprenticeship is very well organised as the management team works with and supports apprentices so that they can excel within this program. I have never felt that I couldn’t reach out for support if I had felt like I was struggling.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider is very good at supporting with apprentices to ensure that targets are met so that we can achieve our qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe that this helps us to understand our roles to a higher standard. I feel knowledgeable about my role which enables myself to perform tasks with confidence.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Within British Airways it feels limitless with the amount of extra-curricular activities that you can be involved in. I have had many opportunities to assist the flying start Charity from helping in food banks to raising money at twickenham rugby stadium.
