Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On a day to day basis I will be expected to service the machinery and equipment. At the moment, in our first year we are expected to attend a engineering college and develop our understanding of what our job role is and how we are expected to perform when back at company.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really love my program and am extremely grateful I received this opportunity as it is life changing and opens a whole other part of your mind. My program slowly introduces me to what a working life is like and am shown the ins and out of engineering as a whole.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt lots of different skills from measuring dimensions to operating a Tig Welding Plant. Our subjects we have to complete are; pneumatics, mechanical maintenance, electrical (array of units) , Hand Fitting (with a hand file), current business improvements and many more things, we were also required to begin a Level 3 B-Tec and have the potential for a HNC qualification.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There is occasionally a moment where the teaching staff at the college are unsure of what they are doing or leave you to figure it out yourself, but apart from them occasions it is well structured, we have received maps of our apprenticeship and career as a whole and had constant meetings with manager to see if there are any suggestive feedback
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is always available to contact whenever necessary, He is always reminding us that if we have the littlest or biggest of questions he doesn’t mind and will answer then non the less. Our employer has outfitted us with equipment ranging from PPE to advanced learning aids (top of the line computers).
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Each week our training provider scores us on multiple areas and shows us where we can improve and better ourselves. The teachers are always willing to provide support and still challenge you so that you learn something and don’t become dependent on the lecturers. Some are more friendly than others but they all have experience and lots and lots of knowledge
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It gives me a clear understanding of how to complete a assigned task where as before I feel I would’ve been completely incompetent and made a mess of the request. The qualifications are an honour to be working towards and are vital for our careers that we will eventually progress into
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At the Training Provider facilities there are not, However at work we have an arrange of facilities from the canteen to the gym, there is also family oriented occasions where you may be able to bring family to your workplace etc. The Gym is outfitted very nicely and is very developed.
