Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
The role involves rotating between the different teams within the Billing department, ranging from Prov Ops who deal with the provision of broadband and telecomms by engaging with key stakeholders, to Billing Ops who deal with reconciling and reporting on behalf of Sky's different stores, products and regions. On a day- to-day basis, this means we use high level reporting to ensure all files balance.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have loved my programme, as there are many opportunities to get involved in different things and projects. The work is extremely interesting and the staff have created a supportive, exciting and team-centric environment, meaning my time on the programme has been extremely engaging and enjoyable. I have been presented with many opportunities for growth and learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
During my time as an apprentice I have developed many existing skills, such as confidence and teamwork, and I have also learned new skills, such as using a wide range of technology and software to accurately report information. I've also improved on skills such as Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft 365 apps.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well structured, with allocated time set aside each week to allow time to complete the coursework aspect of the course. We have regular catch ups with our managers, team leaders and department heads to ensure we are progressing, and our course provider sets aside time to catch up with us regularly to regulate our coursework.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We receive a lot of support from our employers. We have regular catch ups with managers and team leaders from across the department, and we can speak freely about development and growth. There are also lots of opportunities to upskill and learn new things, with our employers helping us find the right tools.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We receive a lot of support from our training provider, Forth Valley College. They come to the office regularly to review paperwork and check we are progressing well, as well as having regular online meetings to ensure we feel comfortable and to help clarify any areas of potential confusion we may have.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification helps me perform better in my role as when I complete my coursework I have an opportunity to reflect on my work and areas I feel I am strong at, and I can identify any areas of weakness. My coursework also helps me understand my role within the business at greater detail.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in within Sky. There are company-wide societies available to join, from Women at Sky to Multiculture at Sky. There are also very frequent social activities such as team nights out, apprentice nights out and Emerging Talent socials. There are also regular networking opportunities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Sky to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall, I've felt extremely happy and comfortable during my time at Sky. I've developed and gained a host of new skills and talents, and I've learned invaluable knowledge about both Billing and business as a wider subject. Sky is an employer that regularly shows it cares about it's employees.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sky?
I would recommend anyone applying for this apprenticeship to be honest and be themselves. Integrity in your application will help show who you really are and what you are strong at/your passions. This will help Sky to develop and hone those skills for your growth. I would also recommend being a fan of Sky- research the products and keep up to date with industry news!
