Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

The role is a rotational programme which includes short term secondments in different teams across the network/infrastructure area of SKY. along side your daily tasks on these teams, you will then study and complete a portfolio, which will go towards your end result. its a 2 year programme based in brick lane, London
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have thoroughly enjoyed the apprenticeship programme at sky for many reasons. One reason is that because its a rotational programme, you get the chance to explore different sectors of the business without fully committing to a certain role. you gain work experience and network with people before your apprenticeship sis over

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

You learn to time manage, organise yourself and be more confident. by working on projects you get the chance to network with many people in the business at all different levels, so this helps enhance these skills. You also get IT skills and technology specific training to help complete your apprenticeship
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

the programme is very structured. you are given an apprenticeship manager, a buddy, a development coach from the external provider and teachers to help you along the way. the programme is a 2 year duration and throughout you have help and guidance where necessary. there are also past apprentices to help you
How much support do you receive from your employer?

you get alot of support from your employer. you are a full time member of staff from the start, getting involved with important projects and being part of a team. along side this, you get time to study and complete your portfolio, with the opportunity to go to skills events if needed inside your working hours.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

the training providers give some support but can be hard to get hold of. sometimes you can chase them for a while before the help is given, but once it has been given its at a satisfactory level. you get a development coach who will help look over your portfolio and arrange any lessons with you.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

the qualification benefits your role as its a hands-on qualification, being gained through submitting a portfolio. this means you get to work on a team that is doing important work and you get the chance to be involved. the qualification gives you the chance to network and make connections for your full time role in the future
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are many extra-curricular activities that sky offers, especially networking events, both professional and social. we also have an emerging talent team that hosts social and career events, to help early careers people such as apprentices, network but also build up their professional skills. we also have charity days where you can volunteer.

Why?
i would recommend sky to anyone. its a great place to work due to the inclusion and diversity it has to offer, as well as the countless amounts of career development opportunities. the company care for their early career employers alot, which i think is important for those starting an apprenticeship - to feel included
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sky?
The main piece of advice i would give to someone is to be themselves when applying. here at sky its more about the persons passion and drive than anything else, and so i would show enthusiasm and willingness to learn. also i would suggest visiting any insight events that are held to get a flavour of what we offer
