Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day to day basis I look after cyber security for production. my tasks vary from keeping production equipment up to date with patches and latest cyber security vulnerabilities. I also support the maintenance department with projects and control engineering topics, this ranges from breakdowns to project management work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship, i have been lucky enough to be able to travel both around the UK and internationally. The new job I have just taken on is an exciting opportunity to get stuck in and learn more. I also lead the UK Apprentice Newsletter for BMW Group UK.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
During my apprenticeship I have gained so many new skills in the fields of technical work, control engineering and IT Engineering. The most recent being IT-Engineering due to my new job role. I have built so many skills up by self learning and 1-1 training with colleagues in my department.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My Programme is very well strcutered, I have day release where I study at the University of Chichester, however, if I need more tiem to study then I can have this with a local agreement with my manager. We have regular catchups with the other apprenticeships as well as the training team here at Rolls-Royce.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive endless amounts of support from Rolls Royce. Whether that is on the job training or training courses externally. on the other hand we also have support from the apprentice training team who can help us with any other issues we may have with university or any other topics.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The support received from my training provider exceeds the standard. We have endless revision sessions which prepare us for our exams. We also have time in our lectures to complete coursework as they understand that us Degree Apprentices work full time. There is also extra support available such as mentally from the University.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
this is the only topic that I cannot praise Rolls Royce on. When I started my apprenticeship the role was not what it was sold as, so the qualification that went with it did not match. I am dong IT and Control Engineering but studying a mechanical engineering degree at university.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there is so so many extra ciricullar activities to get involved in. Myself, I run the UK Apprentice Newsletter for BMW Group as well as the Apprentice Network, these are just a small amount of extra things to get involved in. There is sports teams, charity teams the list is endless.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel over the last few years Rolls Royce Apprenticeships has grown and got a lot better, and this only continues. I would recommend Rolls Royce to anyone, as long as the job role is advertised correctly and the individual knows what job they are getting into. It is a great place to work and I really enjoy working here.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Always be yourself, interviewers can tell when someone is being fake or trying to hard, if you just be yourself then people will see the true value you have got. Make sure you do your research on the role you are applying for and see if you can provide evidence that you are passionate in that role.
