Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
my job role on a day to day basis really depends on where my current placement is. In every placement however I have to learn about how the area works and what processes are in place for health and safety and for what makes the area run smooth and efficiently.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy every opportunity this apprenticeship has given me for example when I started I did a week of team building at Skern Lodge where I got to meet all the apprentices starting with me across the whole of BMW group. I also enjoy the daily networking opportunities the job offers.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
When I started my apprenticeship I had a basic understanding of sewing garments however since being an apprentice I have learnt how to use my existing skills in upholstery and leather work; on top of my pre-existing skills I have learnt upholstery and leather specific sewing skills. I have also learnt how to upholster and how to work with leather outside of sewing.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
In the last year the course has become really organized. for example I have been on maternity leave for 9 months and I have still been included in all updates regarding the company and the apprenticeship programme, i have also been kept involved in any team building days and events.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
AS with the last question, I have received a lot of support from my employer as they were very accommodating of my pregnancy and maternity leave. I'm due back to work in a few weeks and I have been very supported by being offered Keeping in touch days so I can keep up to date with everything at work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
I never found my training provider very helpful in providing support to me in working towards my qualifications. They were very helpful in terms of the practical work we did however when working on the actual written work that goes towards my qualification. since I've been on maternity I haven't had an contact from college despite being told they would keep in touch.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I don't feel personally the qualification I am working towards helps me at all in my role at work. The upholstery we've been taught at college is very different from the upholstery we are required to do at work so it feels as if I'm learning two different qualifications.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
At work there is loads of extra curricular activities for example a football team, a golf team and lots of charity events. every year a house charity is picked and there's lots of events to raise money for them throughout the year.
as an apprentice there is even more extra curricular activities for example building go karts for an event at the local team and lots of team building days.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I personally would recommend a friend to Rolls Royce as an apprentice as there is lots of different types of apprentices with different subjects. I also would recommend Rolls Royce to someone who wasn't looking for an apprenticeship as there is lots of different job roles and opportunities to suit everyone
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
I would recommend someone applying to Rolls-Royce to look at all the jobs available before making a decision on what job they wanted to apply for. I would also recommend finding apprentices who have been through that role already and asking them specifically what they do and if they enjoy it.
