Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
day to day role depends on what department you are in, you rotate through many departments through the three years of the apprenticeship, where you are meant to shadow a co worker and they should be teaching you the skills you need for the role which you will eventually put into practice with their supervision
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
in terms of my college course I have thoroughly enjoyed the programme, the lecturers at Chichester college group are friendly and helpful as well as professional, in terms of my programme at work it has felt under planned and at times I have gone into a department not knowing who i am shadowing or what i have meant to be doing

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
throughout my apprenticeship I have development skills in communication, interaction, and all around being professional in the work place. as well as these skills I have developments a lot of physical skills through my college courses, put together these skills help me to progress through my apprenticeship and the different departments

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
in terms of the second half of my apprenticeship (due to the change of management and supervision) has increasingly been well structured apart from certain issues concerning potential future training, the first half of my apprenticeship felt like a mess, i wasn't been treated appropriately for my position and i wasn't being trained or overlooked. however things have changed for the better
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a large amount support from my employer in all aspects, they are very involved in my college work and keep me on my toes as well as supporting me whilst i'm in placements around the plant, we communicate weekly and make sure i am doing well or if i have any issues that needs addressing
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
my training provider is very supportive when it comes to getting qualifications, they are always checking in on paperwork and coursework as well as making sure i have enough evidence for my portfolio. if they feel like you are lacking in areas they will try and work with the employer to get you back up to speed
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
my qualification only helps me to perform better in my role when in comes to core hand on skills, the rest doesn't feel very related to one another due to the unique work at rolls-royce, you are prepared more for the role at work then you are when training
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
we have an apprentice newspaper that gets released monthly, filled with everything the apprentices have been up to whether its been in work or extra curricular, all the apprentices and interns are very friendly and normally socialize with each other we do many events and social activities as a group

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
although it hasn't always been the case, the apprentice program is very well built and is managed well by managers and supervisors alike, however this has been through a lot of pushing for better treatment. i will always wish i joined a year or two later then i did
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
By halfway through you need to know what you would like to get out of your apprenticeship career wise, and you need to push and take every opportunity possible to make it happen, you superiors will help you as much as they can but it has to come from you aswell
