Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
i work in door assembly which in the T-42 department. i start the day by getting to work for 5.50 so that i have time to say hello to the other workers before the shift starts, at 6 o clock the process supporter conduct 5 coms to tell the workers about DPUs that have occurred and what they can do to prevent the problem from happening again. i will then spend the day learning one of the stations in door build.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
the programme has been good so far, however I don't find it challenging enough as the the college work is too easy and working on the line is good while you're learning a process but after you've learnt it, it becomes boring repeating the same process. but overall i do like learning different processes on the line, and its interesting learning about efficiency methods at college.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
i have learnt new skills from college. at college we have learnt about 5s (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain), this is an organizational technique which can help to organize certain processes which in turn makes the process more efficient. this is useful when working at the plant as this technique can be used make the processes in areas of the plant more efficient

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
the programme in general is well structured, all my placements are planned out for the apprenticeship i am spending 5 months in my home department, then i have placements in planning, quality and rework. college is also structured well as it is planned for what work is due in by set dates to make sure we complete all the required work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
the support in really good from our employer, as there is a cost of living crisis all employees were given a 10% pay rise and a £2000 bonus. this was really helpful as inflation has dramatically increased so having this money has helped to cope with that. we have also been given work laptops so that we can complete tasks at work and college more easily.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
the support for qualifications is really good from the training provider, we have access to all the chichester college facilities and services, we also have good lecturers who we can go to if we need any help for work and tasks so that we can meet the requirements for the qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
the lean manufacturing techniques taught at college helps me to perform better at my role at work. as i am working on the assembly line i can incorporate the techniques so that the work can be done more quickly and efficiently so that more cars can be made and therefore more profit.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
there is a work football 11 aside match every week that anyone can participate in, there is also the green goblin challenge for apprentices where we work with the local school and help then make go karts, there is also meals after work with other apprentices that we can go to.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
it offers good careers opportunities, for example by doing a level 2 afterwards i can progress onto a level 4 and then after that i could do a level 6. this is good because i can gain lots of qualifications while also gaining work experience. there is also opportunities to move to different areas of the company
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
i would give them advice to research the company and to do research on the apprenticeship their applying for and to pay attention to the skills required. i would also recommend they be themselves on the interview so that you can show your real self to them and what your goals are for the apprenticeship.
