Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
So on a day to day basis, my role consists of being either in the baggage hall or being a logistics driver. When i am in the baggage hall i am preparing the cargo containers to fill them with passenger bags and liasing with logistics to transport the cargo from the baggage to the aircraft. In logistics we are driving the tugs and liasing with baggage to transport the cargo from the terminal to the relevant aircrafts. Net
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme extremely and to a very high extent as every day is never the same and the excitement of working in the airport is unmatched, while being so close and first hand near such amazing aircraft can be breathtaking and when working outside its great to see how the operation runs from behind the scenes, seeing things that a normal passenger wouldnt see.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes i have learned so many new skills during my time at the airport, i have learned how to use airport technology, built on interpersonal skills, become more intelligently and emotionally aware and have built on my customer experience skills and communication which has helped me even outside of work too

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My apprenticeship programme is quite organised and structured as when i need to undergo new training or expand on my learning, it has been set out for me quite good and i am clear or what i need to do and how i need to do it, especially when there is something of paramount importance, they let me know when i need to. However it can be a bit messy sometimes
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
As an apprentice i do receive quite a lot of support from the company, however this is predominantly outside of the terminal. When in the terminal i do recieve support from my previous trainers that i meet on a day to day basis but i also do feel like sometimes i am just a normal employee
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive some support from my training provider however not a lot as sometimes i feel like the questions or training modules in the learning aspect are more towards other areas in the business as opposed to what i am doing so it can be difficult sometimes, however I still do get supported
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I neither agree or disagree that my qualification through my training provider helps me to perform better in my role as the learning is there but it is quite generic and i feel like my training with british airways trainers is better than my training provider outside of the company.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there is a lot of extra curricular activities as an apprentice to do outside of work, many of which i partake in and enjoy a lot, i have been to many different places and events which i would not be able to do outside of an apprenticeship and i am very grateful about it.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend British Airways to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because is it an amazing company to work for and the opportunities that i am able to do here i would not be able to with another company and it is a company where I feel like after the apprenticeship i have a job for life and am throughly looking forward to it
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
Be hopeful and try your hardest to get into the company because it is amazing to work at the airport, you learn so many things through your apprenticeship and experiences that you cannot get in other places or jobs, also try your hardest to shine during the interview and show a passion for working in the company
