I move around the business involving myself in different departments and projects. I gain valuable insight into the company and learn the skills necessary to become a future leader.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really love the Aspiring leaders program as no day is the same. With such a fast paced operation there is always something new to get involved in and explore. The work environment is flexible and BA show a genuine care for their employees.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

At British airways I learn something new everyday! From aircraft visits, working in the terminal and seeing first hand how to lead a team I have definitely developed a passion for aviation whilst also expanding my networking and office admin skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

A typical week on the program is around 2-3 days in the office, 1-2 days WFH and 1 study day each week where we can focus on uni work. The placements are well thought through in order to give us the best opportunities throughout the business.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I am always confident to confide in the management team when needed. BA love feedback and are always improving which creates a comfortable and honest environment to work in.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Working full time whilst also working towards a degree can be demanding at times however the company and training provider do work together to try make the experience as smooth as possible. We have access to all the facilities and resources any other student would have which is extremely helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Doing a chartered management degree whilst developing our future management skills is extremely beneficial. As you are able to learn about these skills through writing then put them into practice at the work place.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are always things you can get involved in at BA. I personally do a lot of networking in the Christmas/summer fairs me and my fellow apprentices organise. Not only do we network within the company but also with other small business on the outside.

It’s a fast paced environment, with an incredible amount of opportunity to build your career. However the people are really what make BA special, there is a genuine sense of community within this company that makes me

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
Be yourself! Not one BA employee is the same as the next and that is what keeps our company creative and innovative. Fresh ideas and different approaches are always welcomed, make your leadership style your own.
