Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role as an apprentice is to help the other stylists on a day to day basis such as making sure there is plenty of stock for the day and following week. I answer the phone, make sure the salon is in a clean and safe environment for the customers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i love it so much. It is amazing as I have built my knowledge in all areas in and out of the salon such as knowing off my own back what I should do and how I should do it. I also know the basics of the law and how it works.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt new skills and knowledge such as consultations, safe guarding colouring cutting foils setting and finishing. I have also learnt about the theory of the cutting colouring consultations and shampooing and that has helped me a great deal in the salon and extending my knowledge and experience in the salon.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It’s really well structured. My tutor comes in once a month and supports me with all my learning and also supports me in and out of work. She also helps me with my work and my progress in the salon. I believe the work and learning is really well structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot. She helps me with day to day tasks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider as she helps me with my theory assignments that will go towards my qualification and she helps me if i’m struggling and she always makes sure that I am okay with the work and that I understand it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It helps me perform better in my role as it helps me with what i’m doing in the salon.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The extra curricular activities are things such as going on courses like foiling, and learning more about the work I have been doing on clients and just improving and getting more knowledge.

Why?
I believe Paragon Skills has helped me a lot with my apprenticeship. They are always there if i’m stuck and I need help with something and always give me the opportunity to be the best that I can be.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Paragon Skills?
My advice would be to take it and don’t let the opportunity go to waste. This training provider is the best one I have ever had and they have helped me progress in my training massively.
