Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Managing the team and division that sells new BMW product into the regional retail and corporate markets. Responsible for the full profit and loss for the department plus all human resource management functions. A member of the senior management team across the centre. Every day is different but our ultimate responsibility is to sell cars
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The programme is in its early stages thus far but initial impressions have been very positive. This is the first time for me back in education and the first time at university level. Learning how to write academically has been my biggest challenge so far but I am enjoying the process

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have set level of skills that allow me to do what I do on a daily basis. This grows each day as there is always a lesson to be taken from every conversation, interaction, piece of feedback and every process. I am constantly looking for new ways to learn and evolve

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme has been laid out from the outset, as long as as students we take ownership of our learning then the structure is all there. If somebody was to wait for everything to happen for them then they would become lost pretty quickly I would imagine. It is about proactive learning
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer have been fantastic and very flexible allowing me to find an approach to my learning that suits me best, They are allowing the time where needed and also helping to look for evidence for my apprenticeship towards my end point assessment. It does feel like a collaborative effort
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support is there all the time and it is down to ourselves to use as much or as little of that as required. They have made it clear that the support is available and where to find it. The staff providing the support have all seemed very friendly and helpful too
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It gives me a broader understanding of the processes and actions that take place in the workplace every day. Putting some formality and understanding behind every day tasks and why we do them in order to achieve our overall goals. It will be nice to be recognised with the full qualifications come the end of it
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
It is a pretty social environment with lots of community links with other local businesses and sports teams for example. We are often rewarded at work too with outside caterers coming in and providing lunch for everybody for example. We partake in networking events often and are sponsors of the local rugby club

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Real people working together to get a job done. Minimal egos and a can do attitude with a collaborative approach to everything they do. Whilst they could be blinded by the brand we represent, this isn't the case and there is a true human feel and element behind the company. Very family orientated
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Do it and be yourself. Be open and honest and communicate with those around you and you will go far. This opportunity for me came from a basic conversation one morning and a couple of weeks later I am studying towards a degree. No red tape, lots of support and run by good people
