On a day to day basis I work with a team made up of juniors like myself and more senior members of staff, I work as part of this team to complete and close audits, many of my tasks include reconciliations (invoice and bank) as well as contacting and liaising with client
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme of my apprenticeship as I think it is a good mix between college, training and work. By being trusted with actual work it has helped my confidence and I feel more engaged when I do go to college as I can see the purpose of the content of the subject
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills and also developed many, the main one being excel skills, before this apprenticeship I struggled with excel and tech skills, I have been provided with internal training as well as support from my team members to better my skills in this area which I use on a daily basis
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme overall is structured fairly well however, there has been changes recently to the written essays which we have to complete as part of my programme, I don't believe this was very well communicated as many of us were quite confused with all the changes and the deadlines associated with these etc. It would also be helpful to have more in person teaching in regards to the qualification teaching
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is ample support which I receive from my employer, I have a performance manager which I have catch ups with who will discuss my feedback given to me on my engagements as well as discuss any other issues in which I may want to talk about. There is also lots of support in the engagement team
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There is quite a bit of support, we have calls in which sometimes my performance manager is invited to. This tends to lay out what we have to do in our next steps to gain our qualifications, however our next exam will be taught online but I think I would benefit from a more in person teaching
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I don't think I have been able to apply much of what I have learnt in regards to my qualifications as I am very new to this programme only starting in the last 6 months, I have only completed one exam so far around the basics however the work I am doing is much further advanced than what I have learnt in my qualifications
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are multiple extra curricular activities that employees can get involved in at my workplace, some of which include netball which is popular amongst some of the year above me. My friend and I have recently joined the mixed tag rugby team which we will be competing in a tournament in May

Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it is a great opportunity to pursue a career rather than just a job, there is a lot of career progression and if you work hard there is a lot of reward although this comes with a lot of hard work. You not only have a job which is challenging and engaging you also gain a qualification
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
The main advice I would give to others applying for KPMG is to simply be your authentic self, I know a lot of people say that but KPMG really value authenticity and they will want you if you are being true to yourself, there are a lot of different types of people and cultures and KPMG and all are welcomed as the more variety of people they have the more ideas and innovation the industry has
