Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My tasks would vary each day. I would work in a team and work on the planning of an audit or the year end audit process. Planning would involve assessing and developing an understanding of the client and their internal processes ready for the year end. The year end audit would involve testing balances such as their trade receivables and payables. This would involve communication with the client to retrieve the information necessary.

Yes but to be given responsibility you must work and earn it.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
My communication skills, problem solving skills and networking skills all developed massively during the placement due to the continuous work and need to discuss potentially difficult to understand areas with various client teams.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I was supported every step of the way. Part of the placement required you to attend college and sit two ACA exams, Accounting and Assurance, and each day leading up to my exams my team would make sure that i logged off at a reasonable time to revise for these exams. Additionally i was always able to notify my team of any issues and if i felt i was being overwhelmed with my work.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was very supportive however there is a long hours working culture especially in the busy periods of the year.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
The year at Deloitte was massively enjoyable despite it being mostly virtual. There were opportunities to get involved with social events such as year group quizzes as well as join talks hosted by HSBC and other companies to develop your future.
