Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Assisted the full time analysts with the various tasks required in the business tax department. Completed excel analysis, compliance work, correspondence with HMRC, drafted slides, joined internal and client calls and in general got an overall exposure to the various aspects roles in the business tax team
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
This was my favourite part of the internship. Got a full understanding into the various functions of a tax team and how they all fit in the wider Deloitte picture. Also gained crucial insights into the workings of a large professional services firm

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Developed my communication skills as I had to learn how to effectively communicate in the workplace. Learnt how to use excel to assist in analysis. Also developed my time management skills as often I had many different pieces of work on at the same time.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Company culture was amazing, everyone was extremely friendly and approachable, asking questions was not looked down upon and everyone wanted to help. Also, it was possible to talk to more senior members of the team which was very useful in gaining more business insights. Even online the company organised after work events and when I was able to enter the office everyone was very social during work

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed it very much, despite being during a time of some Covid regulations. Due to it mainly being online I expected it to be alright but it really exceeded my expectations and was a very enjoyable three weeks

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte
Devout a sufficient amount of time on the application process and make sure you understand the role you are applying for and what the company values and aims to be. Also when it comes to interviews be yourself and make sure you are not just repeating preprepared answers
