Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role within finance involves budgeting, forecasting and planning numbers for the Investment Bank. On a daily basis, I check my emails and reply to any urgent requests. I then go onto completing my weekly/monthly tasks which consists of extracting data from an internal system and presenting it on a PowerPoint slide for senior management.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship programme so far. This is because everyone at UBS is very supportive and are willing to answer any questions that someone may have. We have also been given many opportunities to network around the bank in order to get to know more people and expand our network.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many skills as an apprentice at UBS. Having attended many networking events, I have been able to develop my communication and social skills. I have also developed my teamworking skills through working with my team in order to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner. Analysis is another key skill I have improved through my job role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I believe my programme has been structured very well. This is because apprentices get one day for study each week with the option to take take 2-3 study days before an exam as well. We also have allocated study days to go to the college for face to face learning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received a lot of support from my employer. This is because my employer is always ready to answer any questions I have and also gives me training on how to complete certain tasks. I also have weekly catchups with my employer to discuss my progress and ways in which I can improve.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider also supports us apprentices really well. This is because the tutors are always ready to help out on any concepts which haven't been understood. We also have a skills and development coach who helps us with our development throughout the apprenticeship and supports us with our portfolio so that we are well prepared for our exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I believe that the qualification I am working towards is helping me to understand and perform better in my role because learning new terms is allowing me to understand the tasks I do better. Although some aspects of my qualification may not directly link to my role, it has still been beneficial.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many opportunities that employees around the bank can be involved in. Some of these events may be for all employees while some may be tailored to just apprentices. These include, networking events, team lunches, team socials, sports events, cooking masterclasses, Q&A sessions with senior management and many more.

Recommendations & Advice

Yes
Why?
I would definitely recommend UBS to anyone as the company culture is amazing due to all the opportunities that an employee can be involved in. Everyone is very supportive and are always ready to take time out in order to answer any questions that someone may have. Would highly recommend someone to work at UBS.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
Some tips and advice I would give to someone applying to UBS is to showcase how you have developed your skills and competencies through your previous experience. Employers are looking out for people who have learnt and developed their skills, whether that is at work or at school. It is also important to be aware of the company and their mission statement, behaviours and values and show that you are determined to work in the industry.
