Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
This was a short 3-day insight. The main tasks were a group project culminating in a presentation, talks from various divisions in technology as well as sessions on the culture of promoting diversity and giving back. There was also an opportunity to participate in a virtual escape room with other candidates.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very engaging to find out about the breadth of roles and expertise that you could learn through working in the technology division, and the various routes that previous analysts had taken through Q&As in small breakout rooms.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Developed existing skills in analysing a business problem and proposing solutions in presentation format. It was also a good opportunity to meet peers and work in teams.
In the informational sessions, we were also able to learn about the various divisions in the firm, the types of banking, and the different technologies used by Morgan Stanley.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture was very inclusive and welcoming. They very much encouraged questions and employees were willing to share their learnings. At the end, we did a group pitch to decide what would be included in Morgan Stanley charity gift bags, which was rewarding as well as fun.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the insight, especially because their was plenty of opportunities to interact through asking questions, breakout rooms and the team presentation project. The latter was my favourite part of the programme because you had the opportunity to create an idea using your own knowledge and information from the prior sessions, as well as get to know other interns better.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley has lots of online events so register for these talks, Q&As etc before applying so you can learn a bit more about the culture. There is no expectation of knowing a lot of coding, but it would be good to brush up on the basics in a language of your choice.
