Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On Monday, I attend university labs and lectures at MMU - on Tuesdays I am allowed to work on unfinished university work if I still have any, but my role mainly consists of picking up tasks from the owners' requirements, planning and helping with colleagues, and deploying/testing the project.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I'm absolutely thrilled and very happy that I've joined the programme, as I have enjoyed it very much so far. I have been able to attend both university and experience a brilliant working opportunity, with many opportunities for team-building, socialising and doing the things I love - being coding!
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned new skills that I haven't done before starting this course - such as learning how to properly use GitHub and commit changes to a repository, collaborating effectively on Microsoft Teams, new programming languages such as C# and React, and have expanded on SQL, Java and JavaScript.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I believe that the programme is quite well-structured - in which I am able to use a flexible amount of time in my week to dedicate to university studies. The work I do for the firm has a set structure that makes it easy for me to collaborate with my team.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive quite a large amount of support from my employer - and it is available to me whenever I need it. My employer provides opportunities to develop my coding, professional and teamwork skills that will no doubt help me in the future, and I am very grateful for that!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There is a lot of support available for me that is provided from my training provider - there are multiple opportunities for assignment and study support, such as improvements for critical writing and analysis skills, and even for coding skills. There is also a great library for looking for reference material.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes - there are a lot of really good social events that are planned by the personnel at work. There are also quite a lot of networking events that I can attend locally. Most of the sporting events are in London unfortunately.

Why?
KPMG is such a welcoming firm for any newcomers, whether they are coming from college/sixth form or from other jobs. I have been involved in supporting the onboarding process of a new apprentice just like myself at the beginning of this year, and the process is welcoming and helpful!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
My advice would be to anyone applying as a degree apprentice just like myself to be prepared for the working world, please make sure to make some friends at the firm, go into the office at a regular basis for a better experience, and remain healthy while you are working.
