Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I worked in Corporate and so was involved with a lot of projects, operations and admin around the division. I supported a number of different teams for a few months and so my daily responsibilities were very varied. I had study time, as well as team and individual responsibilities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I loved being an apprentice as you were given so much exposure to the wider business and senior leaders. Everyone was so welcoming and wanted to work with you or support you.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Analytical skills, how to present yourself and act in a corporate environment, technical skills in relation to the platforms and programs we use, social skills, critical thinking, self-awareness, teamwork, presentation skills, accountability for your own work.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

You are given designated time to study and complete learning modules. I had oversight from my line manager but was given the responsibility to manage my own days and ensure I was completing work to deadlines. There are peer group sessions that I went to with the rest of the apprentices from around the business.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I got a lot of support and guidance with my work and study. I also had regular catch ups with my manager and PDR's to evaluate my progress at mid-year and end of year. I always made sure that I asked for feedback
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider was great but we all did different qualifications so were done through different colleges or universities. I had regular catch ups with my assessor.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It allowed me to use my specialist knowledge I learnt in the workplace. Rotating around the division meant that I was able to gain so much experience that would support my evidencing for my qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a choir, a running club, book club and a football league. There was also a professional women's network and events held by the Great Place to Work team.

Why?
It is a brilliant place to do an apprenticeship as I had so many opportunities. They have high expectations and expect you to work hard but it is for your own benefit and is very enjoyable. I made so many friends and also had a lot of support from the other apprentices, as well as other managers.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to St. James's Place?
Research the business and what part of the business you would like to have a career in. Make sure you know your motivation and be yourself throughout the application stages. Make sure you get involved in as many opportunities prior to joining as possible.
