To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?

I found the whole week to be enjoyable from the more minor sessions like improving our LinkedIn profiles and the digitisation of accounting to the talks with the BDO employees in each sector and finding out more information about what each role entails. I especially enjoyed the mentoring session with the senior employee as I was able to garner insight on the development of ones career at BDO or in the accountancy field in general.
How well organised was your work experience?

I appreciate the amount of work which would have been put into organising this event as it ran very smoothly despite it being online. Each session had an opportunity to ask questions and even included people external to the firm.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

At the beginning of the week, I had auditing in mind as I hadn't explored much into other areas, but as the week went on I was able to discover that the tax sector would be a better suit to me as an individual and provide a greater variety of engaging work.

I have been able to improve my self-confidence in terms of my future career over the programme by being exposed to a range of information on each service provided. i have also developed better analysis skills and self help tools to better my presence and ability to conduct a productive interview with a potential employer.

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I found there to be endless information on what it was like to work at BDO from the employees themselves and the early careers team. Not only were the positives discussed but also potential challenges which the firm helped them to overcome. They also gave insight on how the work environment differed at BDO compared to the top4 firms like EY.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

There was a number of opportunities to meet employees and discuss/ask them how they found working at BDO has benefited them and their personal experiences in their careers.

This week proved to me that BDO as firm has principles which I admire, such as providing the best work space they can for their employees and carrying out quality work for their clients.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?
It would be a missed opportunity if you weren't to apply.
