Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role is a highly varied one in that no 2 days are the same. Predominantly, I assit the client advisors in their role and exceeding client expectations. By this, I assist with account openings, compiling meeting prep and undertake due dilligence checks. I also help out with any ad-hoc queries.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy the programme and I am so appreciative that I am able to work for a world-renowed company like UBS whilst also being able to study and gain qualifications at one of the leading educational institues - Unievrsity of Exeter. It is an incredible opportunity and I am glad I enrolled on this.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
This apprenticeship so far has allowed me to gain a depth of new capabilities, from becoming more competant within the technicalities of the financial sector to also being able to enhance my soft skills e.g. maturing in the workplace and being able to act as a professional. I have also become more confident.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very organised and structured, with a clear plan spanning from day 1 until the final stages of the apprenticeship. We are aware of exactly what we will be studying but have also been provided with insight into where we should be in terms of job role by the end of this programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer is extremely supportive and especially as an apprentice, you are provided with many different avenues for support. We are assigned a mentor, buddy, line manager and can also get in touch with the school leaver team or HR should we want to share any queries we may have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I would say that the training provider is extremely supportive in allowing us to work towards obtaining our qualifications as we are provided with a wealth of study materials via an online platform as well as have access to texbooks and library resources. We also have an academic mentor and a supprot team for any queries.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Being able to obtain relevant qualifications whilst working allows me to perform my role at the best standard possible as I am able to utilise any knowledge directly within my role. There is constant overlap with what I pick up during studying compared to what I am faced with in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty of extra-curricular activites to get involved with here, which are easy to partiicpate in and are freely available. There is a massive drive for voluntary activities which is really nice to see and we are even granted 2 days to dedicate time to help out on such events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is an amazing company with a vast range of opporunities and you are able to come across very talented people who are very supportive and are happy to help you move in the direction you want to go in. There is also lots of skills to be picked up here.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
Personally, I think the most important thing is to be your true authentic self and work out what makes you stand out. Then, use your unique flairs to really sell yourself. I think it is also really important to do your research on UBS and the role you are interested in applying for.
