I have a very varied role! My apprenticeship has been rotational (360 Apprenticeship) so I have had experience in Audit, Tax and Consulting in different teams across the firm.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The KPMG 360 scheme is super insightful. The best thing about the firm is the culture, every team I have been in have gone out of their way to support my learning and progression and you are not made to feel insignificant as a very junior colleague
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have gained AAT Level 3 Certificate in Accounting and AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting. I have done many internal training courses to boost my soft skills such as report writing and client relations courses. Via on the job learning I have gained many new skills especially confidence!
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is structured really well, with 7 or 9 monthly placements on the scheme before you pick your specialisation (where you would like to complete specialist exams eg. ACA, CTA) Training and support is really great and we get time away for study leave plus mentor systems.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

KPMG is very supportive in terms of contacts, we are assigned a buddy, a performance manager and all members of the teams I have worked in have been really supportive! The culture of the firm makes it really easy to speak up if you need more support or guidance
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

BPP is supportive. We have study leave says where we are trained on exam content, as well as forums before the exam and tutors you can contact with questions. Sometimes communication is a bit slow but in general its good!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

In our Tax and Accountancy placements, the AAT exams give you really good context on the roles we are working in and gives us a good basis of knowledge to apply to everyday tasks, however this is less true for consulting placements due to it being an Accountancy qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have many networks and social events in our individual teams as well as a gym in our London office. We also get 6 CSR days a year to use volunteering in community initiatives of our choice such as for charities or educational initiatives.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
Make sure you prepare for the interview, researching the business and KPMG Values ahead of any interview steps as it is important to feed these into your answers. It sounds cliché but honestly just be yourself - KPMG really want to know how best they can support you more than what you can bring to the table, as they understand we will not have a lot of experience as school leavers/post A-level students.
