Preparing audit workpapers to agree the audited financial figures to supporting documentation provided by the client
I take notes from meetings held with the client and hold discussions with the clients on accounting issues we have noted within the financial information.
I work on a multiued of audits including retail and building businesses.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The work culture within my program is good however at points there can be large volumes of stress caused by tight deadlines and there does not appear to be the support to help to reduce the work volumes to make the stress manageable whilst having to manage exam stress which is on going.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Whilst working at my firm i have been able to not only develop my understanding of financial statements but i have been able to develop upon my communication and technological skills which has helped me to develop my ability to present myself in a professional environment when communicating with clients.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My program is relatively structured however when it comes to exams sometimes there is issued with communications which causes stress when it comes to exam times.
I have a very good performance manager who i can discuss any issues with and they are on hand to provide the required support when needed

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive support from my performance manager who is on hand to help me with any issues where i need it. In terms of exams sometimes the exams team can be difficult to deal with and this causes stress when preparing for exams but apart from this i feel supported.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

When preparing for the exam the communication from the exams team can be delayed and unhelpful as there seems to be constant issues when it comes to revision phases.
When communicating with teams on exam dates there can be confusions of when I need to be available to work and when i need to be on study leave for an upcoming exam

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification does not really provide much additional help to perform my role as the items i am learning is only brushed over in the audit work i complete on a day to day basis and therefore a lot of the items i am learning within my qualification are going to waste when completing my work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I play football with my team on a regular basis and additionally attend a social once a month. From a extra curricular basis i feel KPMG provides good opportunities to engage with my team. I have been able to provide talks to schools around apprenticeships and working for a professional services firm.

Why?
Working for KPMG gives you a good step onto the professional services ladder so once you have the qualification the ability to move to another firm with this level of experience on hand. Additionally the teams seem to have good people working within them who care about your career progression
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
Be yourself and ask questions throughout working at the firm. I would recommend always making note of what you have learnt because you will never know when something you have learnt will pop up again.
For the application process i would make sure you think about scenarios where you can demonstrate skills you have.
