Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work in a commercial real estate team and I have my own caseload and assist on other adhoc tasks. The caseload I have consists of dealing with licences, leases and other agreements for our biggest real estate clients. I often have meetings with clients and agents weekly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the programme. I find the opportunities to progress and develop are set out clearly and I love seeing how I am improving. It is a rotating scheme so I am trying out many different teams and I enjoy trying and forming opinions on each area of law.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My communication skills have hugely developed, both in written and oral forms. I am much more confident on the phone and I can ring clients with less worry. My independence has certainly improved. I have learnt lots of new technical legal skills, such as drafting and reviewing.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very organised and structured. We know what each stage is and what we have to do to get there.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The perfect amount. It isn't overwhelming and suffocating but we know they are there and if there's ever an issue or we need an urgent chat, we are able to get this instantly. I feel supported and encouraged.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We have a coaching tutor and a lecturer each term to assist with our work. They are contactable by email and I have been satisfied.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I enjoy learning the same topics alongside each other on and off the job, as we can apply our knowledge. However, there are some topics we don't ever need in our role but still learn.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, we have sporting teams and a social committee. There isn't many networking events for young professionals/apprentices/juniors though.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BCLP to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great progression scheme, well structured and professional. The chances they give young people are second to none and I feel grateful to work for them at this age and know I have got a solid path set out for my future.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BCLP?
Don't underestimate yourself in a job application, your extracurricular and personal hobbies are more valuable than you realise! Research the company and understand why you choose BCLP over other firms.
