Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is to look after children's wellbeing and promote their holistic development and learning throughout play and lots of stimulating activities outdoor and indoor and enabling environment. My other role is to create positive relationships not only with children but also with their parents and my colleagues too.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I loved everything about my apprenticeship programme. I had a amazing tutor, who was very skilled and well educated in the sector but also extremely friwndly and kind and supportive. Thanks to her I wanted to learn more and give my best. My hands on experience was also great.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have definitely learned lots of new skills as it was my first time working with children. By observing my experienced colleagues and reading about lots of different learning approaches I have learned how to created stimulating and exciting learning opportunities for children to learn new skills and improve their learning.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The whole programme was very well organised and structured and even though we have entered the pandemic just after 5 months my apprenticeship started, the way how our tutor managed the whole situation and adopted the learning that it was still very exciting was the reason why I enjoyed it through out the whole course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I am proud and also very happy I chose to do my apprenticeship with LEYF and I was extremely lucky to have LMP as my learning provider. I stayed working for LEYF even after completing my qualification because I feel like I'm getting all the support I could possibly get and also that there is a great opportunity to progress and grow within the company.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Oh, the support I received was enormous. As I mentioned in one of the previous questions, my tutor, Anita, is such an amazing hard working woman with great knowledge and is such a kind, friendly and supportive tutor that whenever I felt like I'm failing she took her time, talked to me and encouraged me to keep going.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My tutor, while she was delivering an outstanding training to help us become Level 3 qualified nursery teachers, had undergone herself a training for Safeguarding Lead and Prevent Expert and so she thought us all the extremely important values and skills which every teacher should follow and take to their heart.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I know that there is a lot of extra trainings for employees that they can take part in. As for extra curricular activities, I'm not sure if that's what you are asking for but we are encouraging children to get to know their community by taking them around, e.g. To the farm, or help in the local garden. Some of our nurseries are also doing food banks for disadvantaged families and we do work together with old people's care homes and Teens programme to support multi generational approach.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend London Early Years Foundation to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe, London Early Ears Foundation is one of the best nurseries to work for. I absolutely admire June O'Sullivan, our CEO, and as well the training department who are delivering most of the trainings for the staff and who are absolutely passionate about children and the quality of the learning they receive from our teachers. That's why the quality of the training is absolutely amazing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to London Early Years Foundation?
For people who wants to apply for a job in London Early Years Foundation I would recommend to do little bit of a homework and research the Leyf values and also extra curricular learning and teaching approach, the Leyf Pedagogy. But, of course, having a great knowledge of the Safeguarding and Child Protection of children as this is the priority number one in Leyf to keep all children but staff as well safe.
