Being involved in team meetings, working alongside others in projects, paired-programming, following a schedule, networking, gaining technical and firm-based knowledge, presenting projects and providing demonstrations for them, and using GitLab to share code with the team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Amazing opportunity, not only to learn but also to network. You can meet people from so many different walks of life and it allows you to expand your knowledge in many different ways. For software engineering, the best way to learn is to apply what you know; this allows it.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Developed my skills as an engineer immensely; gain an in-depth understanding of programming concepts and how to apply them through learning how to read and enact documentation. Soft-skills also gained, including presentation skills, demonstrating software, and understanding how to explain technical concepts in a non-technical way.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Gradually reaching a perfect structure - sometimes found limited in how well the company understands degree apprentices and their knowledge, but this provides you the opportunity to learn to communicate with your team from the start.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

At least monthly meetings to voice any concerns, clearly explained contacts for issues at the start, 'apprentice buddies' to get support from older years.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Improving; difficulty to contact for queries sometimes, lectures often online but it's moving away from this. No tutor/individual contact to 'check in' with students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Creates the foundations to continue learning at work; sometimes feel that some knowledge is unnecessary/pre-existing knowledge for apprentices.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Many. Lots of groups for communities to grow (sports groups, BAME communities, Women in Engineering, LGBTQ+ groups, etc.) Frequent apprentice events. Ability to gain your own mentor through setting up meetings with seniors.

Why?
Despite the hard work involved, it really does allow you to grow as a professional in every necessary way. The ability to gain both the technical knowledge and the communication skills needed to be a successful individual in this field of work daily from 18 years old is immeasurably useful.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Goldman Sachs Group?
Make sure to stay organised and on top of things, make clear divisions between uni and work life in your mind, be prepared to ask lots of questions.
