Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As deputy hotel manager I am responsible for the day to day running of the hotel, making sure all departments work together to meet the guests needs. I am responsible for training and development of my team, recruitment, forecasting, ordering supplies (within set budgets) and enhancing guest experience among many other things
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have only just started my apprenticeship program, but am really enjoying it so far. The learning is very appropriate to my role and covers a wide variety of topics that I am interested in. Its good to be back in education and being able to put what I am learning in practice

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills regarding how to run a hotel. There are lots of tools within Whitbread that can be used to drive efficiency if used correctly. I have also developed a lot of my personal skills especially time management, planning for future scenarios and people management.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think the program seems very well structured. The modules all cover very important and relevant topics. The learning is then broken down into mini sections which makes it look less daunting and easier to manage. There's a good time frame to be working towards and regulsr catch ups with your trainer to keep you on track
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is very supportive. My line manager is always available should I have any questions about topics I am learning about, or if I need to ask where I can get more information. He always helps to ensure it is managed alongside my workload within my role. There is a really strong support system in place
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We plan regular zoom meetings every few weeks to look into my progress. I can also send them a message or call them if I want any additional help, or a 1 to 1 learning session if something is particularly challenging. They have also offered wellbeing support, so I do feel looked after
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have only just started my apprenticeship, so I do still have a lot of learning to do. I know that my knowledge and understanding of hospitality management will improve greatly, which in turn will make me be better in my role. Even in the first stages of my enrollment the self-assessment was really useful for me to reflect on my current abilities and how I can improve myself
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Unfortunately covid had restricted a lot of these activities. I am not aware of any extra curricular activities at my work, but we do a lot of fundraising outside of work so I am looking to plan a sponsored walk in the summer for DEC or Great Orford Street Hospital
