Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role at BMW is to carry out maintenance tasks alongside other maintenance technicians and help keep the plant running smoothly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the programme, sometimes college can be a bit grating but its an essential part of the apprenticeship and worth it in the end.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I already had mechanical experience but placements here have allowed me to develop more electrical skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure of the apprenticeship can be unclear at times at it all depends on where you want to go with it, whether that be foundation degree, HNC, HND etc. College can be a bit disorganised at times since after the first year you’re put on day release.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive plenty of support here and feel i can have a chat to my superiors if i think anything isnt right.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
A bit? From what I can gather it depends on what subject it is, how much you know about it already and who is training you. They don’t offer support sessions for those who may be struggling, so you’re left to figure that out yourself.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It doesnt make much difference, the first year had some subjects that have directly applied to the work i do here (electronics and maintenance) but in general the two don’t tend to correlate often.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Since covid I’m not entirely sure, there have been activities and social gatherings in the past but i don’t think any have started back up since? I may be wrong though

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
As a whole, the apprenticeship is very good and you’re working for such a large and well-known company that at the very least is great to have on your CV as past experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Prove you have an interest in hands-on work and programming. Thats what hams hall is all about and you will be looking at a role that entails this so previous knowledge and experience is a must.
