Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My day-to-day role at UBS insists of assisting my team in a variety of different tasks. These tasks range from reaching out to different regional teams to gather information needed for my team to perform tasks, to performing data analysis, as well as writing reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme thoroughly, it has opened me up to a variety of different opportunities and experiences that I would otherwise not had by attending a typical university course. I have been able to work and correspond with a variety of different people from different regions and previous work backgrounds. In addition to this, the scheme has been enjoyable due to the vast amount of opportunities to socialise with the other apprentices on the scheme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since beginning the apprenticeship, one of my skills that has improved is my communication skills, this is because of the vast amount of communication that occurs in my day-to-day role, both written and verbally. In addition to this, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, a vast amount of this communication has been virtually, allowing me to develop my technological skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very structured due to having 80% work time and 20% university time - this is allotted by having one day off of work a week to complete the university work and assignments. In addition to this, there is a master calendar presented to us by the university that has all key dates on that occur throughout the apprenticeship timeline.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I would personally say that the support from the employer is as necessary. The apprenticeship team hold quarterly catch-ups individually with the apprentices to see if there is any problems that they could help with, or you could reach out to them at any given point during the scheme and they are more than happy to assist. In addition to this, the company as a whole provides a variety of services to do with well-being to ensure that all of their staff are content in their position.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The support from the university is amazing, they are extremely helpful with any queries you may have and are always super quick to respond. They cater to the hours you are available to have calls with you to ensure that you are understanding the work or if you just need some extra support at any given moment. In addition, they also provide many training and learning resources to ensure that we achieve our best grades possible.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification helps me perform better in my role by allowing me to learn about wider areas of finance that are not specifically job specific, meaning that I have a wider understanding of why certain things may occur in the bank and therefore can relate them back to my position.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The culture of the company is very well-being focused, so you feel as if you are valued especially considering my juniority compared to my colleagues.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
Be yourself! Everyone is always more than happy to assist and guide you if you are unsure about something. Research helps too, be prepared for any questions they may ask around UBS or what is on your CV.
