Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
I’m an apprentice in the Woodshop
I’ve been going round the whole of the Woodshop during the three year apprenticeship an have been learning about each area from the start to the end of the production of the interior parts and now I’m in my final placement
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoyed the whole bespoke workshop department where I got to work on unique designs and have my own input into a coach build design process, I’ve been able to work on my own on some ideas an projects

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Team work skills
Working to deadlines
Eye for detail

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
I think the Woodshop apprenticeship needs to work on they’re organisation of giving back feedback to apprentices and letting each area know that they will be having an apprentice in they're area as most areas had no idea when apprentices would be with them
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Rolls-Royce is a good company to work for as they are happy to help you if you have a problem an will try to help sort it out
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support from the college is very good, when ever you have a question or need a bit of help they’re always happy to help or even suggest other ways of doing things, they even made time for students to come in an work on they’re projects during half term
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Other then working with veneers I don’t think the college course is very relevant to the apprenticeship at all as the course is in furniture making and non of the skills we learn are used in work other then problem solving
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
I’ve heard that you can do golf, football, go carting and some challenges for team building I’m sure there are more
