Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
It involves shadowing and learning from Maintenance and Control Engineers. I conduct various engineering activities such as repairs, inspections and servicing on factory machinery, under their supervision. Day-to-day activities are varied with both practical and theory work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme greatly due to the variety of practical and theoretical engineering tasks and lessons. I rotate around various technologies on the Plant, every 3 months, so I am able to learn about the entire manufacturing process.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed many skills, in these two years, including mechanical, electrical and control engineering skills. I am constantly working on machinery and electronic systems so I am continuously developing these skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I feel the programme is structured well and there is a clear path from the start of the apprenticeship to the end. There are regular reviews and support meetings to keep track of my progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There is always plenty of support from my employer for any part of the programme or in general.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The support from the training provider is adequate. For the course, there could be more structure from the provider.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The course provides theoretical background to my role and it has been helpful, in allowing me to understand the engineering theory and principles at work. I feel I have learned a lot more about the job and industry by learning through my qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are a lot of extra-curricular activities to get involved in including charity work, apprentice newsletter, web designing and local events.
