Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves overseeing operations within the restaurant, whilst ensuring all key performance indicators are hit and we are delivering strong EBITDA.
I oversee a team of 50 employees and a management team of 6 managers as well as helping my line manager to oversee the runnings of 8 stores within the area.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my time when attending university study days, learning new theories and models and expanding my business management knowledge further. I have been able to meet new people and experience things which I never thought possible. This apprenticeship has been great to build my knowledge and confidence within the workplace

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Throughout my time with KFC, I have learnt a wealth of new skills and abilities, such as how to better manage the team and how to run the business to the best of my ability. I have learnt new models and theories throughout my time at university which I can take back and implement within the workplace

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured and provides a good flow of information which I can take back and implement within my own restaurant. The modules all link together well and provide well rounded knowledge. We also have regular gateway sessions to work on building our portfolio for the apprenticeship programme
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I believe that I receive really great support from my employer in terms of them providing me with time to attend my study sessions, paying for my expenses whilst doing so, and providing me with the time to complete my off the job training. I also have a mentor at work who is amazing
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of help and support from De Montfort University whilst studying, and have regular reviews and meetings to track my progress and see where I need any help and support. The team are really lovely and the lecturers are great and always demonstrate their knowledge of their field
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe that this qualification and degree apprenticeship helps me to learn key qualities, knowledge, skills and behaviours that I otherwise would not have learnt. I have been able to take these back and implement these within my business and make some changes within the workplace which have had a great impact
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I often go with my line manager (Area Coach) to visit other stores within the area on our pay weekends as we run different incentives. For this I help in recognising the teams for their hard work and for doing something which gives back to their local communities, such as the litter picking we do

Why?
The business has looked after me for the many years I have worked here and has demonstrated to me that it is a good place to work. The above store level team are great and provide the support and leadership for me to run a really strong high performing restaurant.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KFC UK & I?
I would recommend that during the interview stage they really go above and beyond to demonstrate their passion for this industry and also their knowledge and expertise. They also need to demonstrate that they are a strong people person as in kfc people are at the heart of what we do
