Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I assist with statuary audits for financial service companies.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I do enjoy the Programme. It is challenging to balance a heavy workload as well as the demands to study for the exams as part of the ACA qualification. However, with that comes beneficial experiences.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed a wide variety of skills during my time at EY. Including problem solving, data analytics, financial understanding, team work and various technology packs.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel the Programme is well run largely.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Support is also good. One thing I would say could be improved is helping students to understand what their options are going forward, whether that be the type of work you would like to experience, early/postponement of exams and general career guidance to customize the apprenticeship to your experience.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Kaplan have been very good so far. They have good teachers and the materials/structure of the Programme is good.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
To be honest, many of the exams do not relate to what I do day to day. However it does give good foundational knowledge applicable across the finance industry.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there is often social events and gatherings through out the year.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall, working at Ernst and Young provides great work experience. There are many opportunities to learn and work with some large complex clients. Although it is demanding, the overall experience is worth it in terms of propelling you into your career going forward.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
My advice would be to not overlook ANY of your exams. Of course this varies per qualification, however I feel the principle is the same. They are all challenging and will require your time outside of work which is a challenge in itself.
