Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I help manage the company's day to day funding including incoming and outgoing payment totals, bank balances and loan requests. I assist with financial forecasting as well as report on and monitor interest rates, the cost of borrowing money, and savings made based on the company's funding strategies.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the programme alot! My colleagues are friendly and welcoming; always so easy to speak to about anything. I have great support from my manager as well. The learning side for the qualification is also really interesting. The workload has been pretty perfect throughout - never becoming too much for too long that I become burnt out.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt much more advanced excel skills than I previously had. I have learnt how to present data to others in a clear and understandable way. I have improved my communication with others via giving presentations, holding meetings and especially improved my financial fluency. I have worked towards my Accounting qualification which has assisted me greatly at work

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is structured well. The materials from my learning provider are understandable, well written, well structured and have let me get the marks I wanted to in my exams. From BMW - the objectives and tasks I am given are reachable and help me develop myself and achieve recognition from others on my work
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support. My manager in particular is understanding and helpful if I have a query, concern or if I am struggling. My employer provides training and advice on keeping a healthy work/life balance and priorities mental wellbeing. There are multiple diversity and inclusion groups at the office where I work which support people and champion a more supportive, diverse company culture.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a good amount of support. There are multiple ways of reaching out depending on if it is a technical question, a question on the apprenticeship itself etc. Each person is assigned there own coach who they have reviews with every 6 weeks to help stay on track and progress the non-technical sides of the apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Progressing through my qualification helps me more every time I study a new topic. Sometimes it feels like every time I learn something new a conversation relevant to it comes up and I am able to understand more and offer constructive thoughts if needed when I wouldn't have been able to before.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are loads of activities offered - my team has a social committee which organises things like have zoom events, once lockdown finished we have had lunches out together, Christmas get togethers and more.
There is also a networking coffee club which is offered at the office so you can meet people you wouldn't otherwise have contact with

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
BMW group is an inclusive, high quality employer. Managers are focused on developing their employees. People that work there are friendly and welcoming - creating a great place to work. There is a focus on helping apprentices achieve their goals and perform to the best of their abilities, however not at the expense of their own wellbeing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Check the BMW Group website for apprentice opportunities - that is where most careers are advertised. Don't be put off by the assumption that because BMW makes cars then anyone that works there needs to be a car fanatic - its simply not true. At the interview make sure you have done some research about the area of BMW you are applying to work in.
