Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I am the first point of contact for all clients wishing to use the services of co-op funeralcare. I support families with all aspects of the funeral arrangement, from the first call until after the funeral. My role also involves work within the community, ensuring that there is appropriate bereavement support in place and that the community feel supported by us and informed of the services that we offer.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It's good, although a lot of what I already know due to in house training and shadowing.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, I've learned everything about the funeral arrangement process including legal paperwork required and how to work effectively with selected third party suppliers in order to ensure a smooth process for our clients.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It's fine.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
We are very short staffed at the moment, so it's hard to juggle working time and time spent on my apprenticeship. I do however feel confident that if I was to tell my line manager that I needed time to complete my apprenticeship, she would be fully supportive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I feel confident that Colin would support me if I requested any help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
As mentioned above, as of yet, the content that I have got involved in is yet to teach me anything new.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Not that I'm aware of.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend The Co-op to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Good part time hours for a working mum.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Co-op?
Be confident that funeralcare is what you want to do. It's a taxing job, but one that is worthwhile and offers lots of job satisfaction.
