Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My job is a funeral arranger. I am a mobile arranger so I move around to the different branches, providing branch cover. This entails communicating with families to get an understanding on what type of funeral they require. I provide support throughout the process to families and will support them through the funeral arrangements and also through chapel visits. My day involves booking up funerals and ordering flowers, music, stationary. With being mobile I pick up funerals at different stages this can be right at the start, middle or after the funeral has taken place. My days are always different.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my apprenticeship as I feel like I have the support from my trainer. I also enjoy the interactive work shops as it is a chance to meet the other people who are taking part in the apprenticeship and discuss with them how they are finding the job, apprenticeship etc. I also feel like with being new to the job it helps with my knowledge.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many things in this job role. I have learnt about the different types of funerals that we offer. I have learnt about the different ways that clients can pay for funerals and how to process a soft credit check. With being new to the job there has been a lot for me to learn. I have learnt the right ways to discuss funerals with people who are grieving any may be vulnerable. I have learnt about the different laws and regulations through Training courses. I feel like I have also gained many personal skills including a gain in my confidence. I have learnt this skill of being adaptable also, as I have to adapt to many peoples way of working.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel like BUD and STAR are easy to follow and it is clear to see the tasks that need to be completed and also the due dates. I feel like the mini reviews are also helpful to discuss what you have worked through and what tasks are up coming. The support from my mentor through teams meetings and emails are also really helpful.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel like I have a lot of support from my training coach, he keeps me updated through email and teams. I feel like he is always there to answer and questions that I may have and he always guides me through the next steps of what needs completing etc.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
When working towards my qualification I feel like I do have the support. I have felt that the trainers in the online interactive workshops have also been supportive when on teams meetings and also afterwards when sending relevant documents etc. I have felt like my trainer has also been able to support if I have been unsure on anything and is support is accessible.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel like the qualification will help me become better in my role and also become more confident as I will have the further knowledge to help me now. I feel like it definitely will help me in the long run when I am further along my apprenticeship journey and have gained more knowledge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There is a lot of community events that you are able to take part in, there were a lot more pre covid times. Pre covid there did used to be community events like coffee mornings or bereavement meetings for people who have recently lost a loved one. This was a great chance for people to meet other families who had been through similar experiences. I feel like all of these things are a great way to gain experience and further knowledge again.
