Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis, my job involves a lot of filling out excel spreadsheets/ navigating our online system and also leading or taking part in group meetings, especially when in the office. The majority of my work involves filling out Workpapers, by looking at prior years structure and filling the current year one with the correct information/numbers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme so far has been very challenging and is definitely not for the faint hearted! Despite some long evenings studying/working - the people you work with really make it worth it. You are supported by your peers around you who motivate you to to do your best. The end result is definitely worth it!
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Especially when working in the office, you can pick up new skills and knowledge very easily. This involves a lot of excel knowledge from pivot tables to new formulas. Obviously there is still a huge amount to learn but from working at the company 6 months, I have learnt a lot already from my peers and colleagues.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is organised pretty well. We have an online system where we can check when we have college/study leave/engagements etc. This helps to monitor when we are working or studying. We are sent emails with reminders about our college work and equally team meetings are set up frequently to go through our work and if we have any struggles.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support from my employer is relatively ok. Most of the time you have a point of contact who can message to ask for help/advice on a certain situation. sometimes there are points where you may not feel supported but most people around you would be more than happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support from your training provider is pretty good. Our tutor sets us work every night to consolidate our learning from the day. It is easy to ask for help/guidance with any problems you may have. The weekend before our exam there is an online forum where you can ask questions about your studies if you have any problems you need a tutor to explain, which is really helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

So far, the work that we have learnt within our studies hasn't featured too much in the last 6 months but definitely recently I have noticed key words that I learnt for the exam, are featuring in a lot of my work. I think this is probably because as you progress through your job you are given more responsibility over workpapers ect.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

For me I have attended a few socials - which are fun and definitely a highlight of the job. There are extra curricular activities available to take part in, which I choose not to - but I know they are there if I wanted to participate. When I am not working, I like to spend time relaxing and socialising with friends but equally socialising with work colleagues too!

Why?
Its a good place to gain experience in the sector. You learn a huge amount of knowledge in such a short space of time which is beneficial to your future career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
If you are not willing to put the work in - this may not be the place for you. At times you can be tested, but equally it can be rewarding and the people you work with are fun too!
