Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My day to day routine would be receiving a hand over from staff, ensuring my residents are well and ok. Checking food and fluid monitors, assisting with personal care as well as managing their appointments and care plans
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Although my programme took longer than expected due to the pandemic I am so glad I had the support behind me from the lifetime mentor team. They always gave me feedback and pushed me to do and get everything out of this apprentiship that I could. Finishing with a distinction was the best feeling.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, my knowledge has expanded a lot and I now feel more confident within my job role with my nvq in place. Many areas of the training have helped for example diabetes and end of life I now know a lot more due to these units I can use in my every day work.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very good, well structured again it was harder due to covid and the way the programme changed beavuse of it. A lot of remote working and recordings instead of face face meeting and observations made it tricky but the structure was good it worked well and there was a lot of support
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot of support. Barchester put me forward for the nvq and are willing to always want their staff to go further in their aims and achievements. My manager and nursing staff always would help where needed and check if needed any extra information in order to pass the qualification
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A great deal. My training provider was great so helpful and prepared a lot for me. When i was finding it difficult to complete the work due to covid she set smaller goals and sent more information to help me get through it. Each time she would review my work and feedback
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Very well. Going back to work now after time off having the qualification I feel more confident and I know I have all my work to help me if I need to look back at a unit for extra knowledge. It helps me and I can then share My knowledge with my team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Not currently that I am aware of. I know some members of the team are trying to organise a meal out to celebrate the efforts and hard work.

They are a good company. They always send you letters, information and guidance about how the company is doing and are thankful and grateful to their barchester team. Regular meeting and training is always avaliable so you know you can always count on that. Regular conferences and calls to ensure the home is OK and if anything is neeed
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barchester Healthcare?
Look within the job roles, ser which one you could really see yourself doing. Barchester will always promote you and want you to succeed. It is a great company with many benefits and standard of work is high so you know it is a good place to work and welcome new residents
