Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am undergraduate engineer which essentially means I get to learn from and work with expert engineers as mentors and managers who help me contribute to live projects that count towards product release and improvement. I work in an office with other professionals where I network and connect for advice.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love my programme. I would say this is because I get the opportunity to get a Bachelor's Degree in the most impactful sector: Engineering, but for free. Dyson cover tuition fees and give you a nice salary instead of paying for the traditional higher education route. Also you work hands-on.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I learn and develop skills every weekday, whether it's an education day or work day. For example, I learned to program in C, Python, I learned to draw and design objects in 3D in CAD. I learned to communicate my findings verbally and visually through reports and presenting sometimes.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My programme is very organised because we have lots of staff that are dedicated to ensure our experience is as good as it can be. They work very closely to help indicate what it is we have to do and show. Our schedules are published often and we are constantly reminded of our requirements.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
We get lots of support professionally, mentally and physically. We get many benefits like free lunch, free hot drinks, free gym, free transport to work. They really try to care for you which is what I love. However, they could support more financially as we do work very hard & inflation!!!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Warwick come to Dyson Campus for our lecture and seminar days or deliver to us remotely. They are a bit annoying in terms of getting a response and also feedback. Sometimes, the lecturers deliver as if they don't wasn't to be there and sometimes they cancel on the morning of the morning lecture! Dyson/DIET staff are perfect though
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It helps because it is very easy to get lost in the office jargon. Warwick help teach us the basics to engineering and give us a feel of the theory behind some physics topics, this helps me perform better in my role as I often have light bulb moments like, "Ohhh I've heard this before!"
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes there's loads. There are societies like football, where we play every Sunday in a regional league, volleyball, religion, which includes Muslims, Christians and many others,
adventure, where they travel to various parts of the country to climb, hike, walk etc. & robotics where we get to build robots exercising our passion.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is the best opportunity in terms of Higher Education. Why pay for an engineering degree when you can get it for free whilst getting 4 years of work experience at one of the world's leading firms in technology. And on top of this, you get the chance to earn while you learn.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology?
I would say you MUST show that you are more than competent at maths and science and solving problems, as they hire the best of the best. But also show enthusiasm and authenticity. This means showing that you care about engineering as a whole and have goals in the sector, but also show why you love engineering. What makes you tick.
