Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working in Client Hub COO, a function within Global Markets. I have weekly deliverables and receive ad-hoc projects to work on. I work with my team to support the wider teams in Client Hub through management; by monitoring client sentiment, regulatory changes and operational risk. I produce the materials for key meetings and work with other employees within the division to support tasks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have been put in a great team, I really enjoy working with my colleagues. The division I have been allocated to aligns with my perceived strengths and I feel as though I have a strong input that is listened to by the people I work with. The university content is very relevant and I feel I am able to relay what I learn to my work life. I enjoy the program very much.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Absolutely.
My presentation and communication skills have improved considerably through developing professional relationships and learning more about the business areas within the bank. My digital skills have improved through exposure to different softwares. My teamwork skills have improved through working closely with other groups as well as my own. My time management skills have improved through balancing university assignments and professional exams with full-time employment.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There is a clear program structure. Wednesday's are for university, we have weekly webinars or masterclasses with our training providers and on the other 4 days, we work in our allocated teams. The program is 4 years long and includes a number of qualifications.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

UBS as an employer is very supportive. I have weekly catch-ups with my line manager where we discuss not only the work I'm doing in the office but also university.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Sufficient. The curriculum is very well suited to the qualification content. However there are often pastoral assignments that are time consuming and reduce the time we can spend focusing on our qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The content we are taught is very applicable. Learning key words and concepts have been helpful to understand in the workplace. I have a broader understanding of the environment I work in through the content studied.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are a number of networks that are open to anyone to join. These networks host events to meet people which has been great for building contacts across the bank. As a team, we often socialize after work.

Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a bank with a great culture that is strongly enforced. The apprentice team are very supportive of progression and line managers are very nurturing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
Learn about the culture. I've heard from employees who have worked in many places that the culture here is a strong differentiator. Have a keen interest in the stream you're applying for but remember no one expects a front to back knowledge, you're here to learn!
