Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Design Engineer, Helping out team develop new idea's and fixtures for a prototype manufacturing line
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
A little bit, I have to say the grind of uni and workplace is quite intense and sometimes doesn't feel like the most ideal option. I also think it lacks a lot of social diversity (ie talking to non engineers)

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, CAD, teamworking, time management

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Its getting better but in previous years its been a bit more chaotic. Now its fairly organised i'd say
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A fair amount, they give us adequate time to study and complete EDA stuff etc
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Other than the standard lectures not that much. But dyson supply enough to make up for it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
give me the theortical basis to make more informed engineering decisions
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Yeah a fair amount, but not even close to what a standard uni would have on offer. This is mostly due to the small number of students here

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology to a friend?
No
Why?
Fairly isolated campus makes for limited socialisation. As nice as it is earning money and not having a student loan it feels like we miss out a lot on what you get at uni
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology?
As long as you're sure this is the right course for you then go for it. But don't be swayed by the money and lack of student loan - theres more to life than just that
