Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Spend 3 days in the workplace and 2 days in lectures per week. The workplace has 6 month rotations for the first 2 years moving between areas of the business before choosing a team in year 3
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The workplace side is great. The lectures are a lot of work and managing the two sides to the degree can be challenging. It is worth it though.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The course follows a structure every week which doesn't change. There are a few small problems with timetabling clashes but these are generally minor.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot all of the people in workplace are happy to help and support you academically and in relation to your project.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The support is available when asked for. The large amount of content and coursework makes it hard to keep up.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
A lot when entering new rotations, generally the rotation allows you to gain a much deeper knowledge in the area that would not be possible in lectures
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Teams may run their own social activities but there is plenty of stuff to get involved in within DIET if you can find the time.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The knowledge you gain in the workplace and the techniques you learn through solving problems is not possible through traditional lectures.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology?
Be aware of how much work it is before starting, the course is quite intense. If you want to apply go for it, it may be competitive but it is worth it if you get an offer.
