Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role is a team leader/shift runner so I am in charge of motivating a team to hit sales targets/time targets and to ensure our customer satisfaction is good. I am also in charge of cash handling for example tills and the safe, I am in charge of stock counts.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
I don’t really enjoy my programme because it’s not really for me but it’s not the worst thing in the world. I can imagine it being a great opportunity for someone else that enjoys this style of education but I enjoy hands on experience or being sat in a classroom.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have become better at communicating under pressure and just communicating in general. It’s helped me think and speak on the spot. This will help when it comes to dealing with customer complaints face to face and will also make me less anxious when it comes to communicating with strangers.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
I found the programme organisation a bit confusing, it was all a bit too much too fast and I couldn’t really take it all in. In my opinion there was a lot to do so that’s why I felt as if the programme was a bit all over the place.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer has been the most supportive with this. Although she knows I wasn’t too excited to do it, she has always empathised with me and took the time to listen to my opinions but then still pushed me to do my best and try my hardest. I couldn’t ask for a better mentor.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
She is very supportive but There isn’t a lot of lenience when it comes to problems that I’m having in my life that interfere with the programme, for me the programme wasn’t a priority as I have a lot more going on outside of that programme but the training provider didn’t really seem to care that I mentally couldn’t do it at that moment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I don’t think the qualification affects my role all that much, the things that you learn (in my opinion) don’t really work on the job. I find this is because on the job it’s actually a lot more hectic than people think and you kind of have to make do with what tools you have and you have to act on the spot so you don’t really have time to think about what you’ve learned.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend KFC UK & I to a friend?
Yes
Why?
This is because I think this is a very great first job to have, it builds up so many different skills and really sets you up to deal with things different in public. I think it’s the challenging customers that have taught me so much, I have learned to deal with conflict differently and responsibly.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KFC UK & I?
Just don’t think that your life revolves around work, you may think it does at first because it’s a new job but it does get really tiring and draining. I would also recommend that you don’t take anything the customers say to heart, they can say some really horrid things but it reflects on them more than it does on you.
