Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I will spend the day carrying out die maintenance and responding to breakdowns on the line, which involves checking if the die is damaged and repairing it if it is. some jobs will require the use of hand grinders and welds to be put onto the steels where the trim edge has been damaged.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

the programme is very enjoyable, many skills and job opportunities are available, throughout the apprenticeship you will have lots of 4 month long placements that will help yourself adjust to all different environments and gain lots of knowledge and experience from lots of different workers that have a high level of knowledge.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned many skills such as grinding down welds using multiple methods such as with a hand grinder or using rotary burs and diamond files. i have also learned how to shear in a steel which is when the trim edge is welded up and ground down on the top of the steel and then the rest of the weld is sheered off when the press brings the upper die down which saves grinding the weld.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

the apprenticeship is quite well organized as placement plans are in place years in advance so you will have a good amount of notice or where and when you will be at each placement, this placement plan works well and stays on track. the college course has a similar plan which also works well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

lots of support is provided by our employer, whenever extra help is required, the help will be put in place in order to provide the sufficient support to help the apprentice.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

any support required will be provided by the training provider.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

by receiving extra support will help to give an extra boost and allow for better performance in the job role.
