Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Within my role there are many different tasks that are performed on a day to day basis. No day is the same there is always something new and interesting to do. Some of the stuff I get up to includes grinding, fitting, welding, stoning, polishing, drilling, tapping machining and much more.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I greatly enjoy my programme the company culture here at BMW is unmatched anywhere else. The work I get to perform as well is really enjoyable and allows me to apply all of the skills I have learnt during my time at college and working in the apprentice area at plant.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

During my time as an apprentice I have definitely learnt some new skills and also built upon my existing skills. One of the main new skills I have learnt is metal working, before starting the apprenticeship I had no experience at hand fitting and now I am competent and do it on a daily basis. An existing skill that I've developed is my teamworking. In the toolroom everyone is part of a team and we work together to get jobs done.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well organised. You are supported the whole way by the apprentice trainer. The first year is spent full time in a learning environment building a foundation of knowledge on hand fitting and other engineering disciplines. The second year is then spent on the apprentice training section learning the basic toolmaking skills.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Over the course of my apprenticeship I have received excellent support from my employer. If I have any issues with my training provider on anything going on at work they are resolved quickly. Whenever I approach my employer with problems they never get annoyed they are happy to help no matter the size of the problem.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Whilst working towards my qualifications I have received loads of support from the college and my employer. In addition, other apprentices have been able to help my in areas of my qualification I have struggled with.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification has given me some great knowledge and practical skills that I have been able to apply in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

During the apprenticeship I have had to opportunity to partake in many different activites such as local events and the mountain challenge.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Before applying make sure to do some research on the company. Just knowing the company values and what we do at the plant gives you a great advantage.
