Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I code front end web solutions using frameworks such as React and Node.js
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I thoroughly enjoy the work aspect of the programme. However I cannot say the same for the university side which has been poor. Among the fact that multiple professors have been threatened for striking, the experience has been subpar at QMUL.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot about web development and React. The firm has paid for many learning platforms including Pluralsight, Egghead and Coursera.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There is a fair amount of structure including weekly meetings, a clear manager hierarchy and being delegated tasks.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is an incredible amount of HR support. I am dyslexic and they accommodate anything I need that helps me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We have a supply of office equipment such as notebooks, pens, etc. This is useful as a student. Furthermore we have someone from HR dedicated to apprentices to talk to for any issues we have regarding university.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I do not feel like the training provider helps me in my role. 2/3 modules per term are based towards hundreds of uni students who are assumed to have zero programming skills. This means that the course feels slow whilst everyone else comes up to speed.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a plethora of extra curricular activities are available. Some I attend are chess

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Goldman Sachs Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They are very supportive and help a lot with the course. The only negative would be the pay which is up to 25% higher in other firms like Morgan Stanley.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Goldman Sachs Group?
Try your hardest and take part in life experiences that make you unique prior to going to interview. Pickup leadership experience and learn how to work well independently but also as a team.
