Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I currently work in the Metrology department within the Body-in-White technology across Plant Swindon & Plant Oxford. I have been training to specialise using, maintaining and programming in-line measurement equipment. This equipment is responsible for measuring the stability of production within the Body-in-White. I manage the data that is generated from these systems and distribute reports accordingly to help production teams.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed this programme so far and still continue to enjoy my apprenticeship. I continue to learn on a regular basis as I gain responsibility and take advantage of opportunities. I feel a valued member of the team and trusted to take on work. I enjoy learning new things and seeing different parts of the business.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many skills while developing in this role. This includes working in production conditions, which can add pressure to tasks at hand. I have learned how to manage data services including measurement systems, servers & master databases. I am able to hold meetings and give my feedback to production and Quality teams.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well structured. The first year of the apprenticeship is based in a college environment. The second and third year is based at the work place, while on day release at a college/university environment. The final year is also based at the work place while spending one day at university.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The support is fantastic, both for work-place concerns and education concerns. If for any reason you need support, you can approach anybody for help. This can be from placement managers or mentors, training managers or advisors, or any of your fellow apprentices associates. There are also support tools within the business for mental health and wellbeing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The education provider provides all the necessary tools to help you achieve your qualifications. If for any reason you begin to fall off on your academic studies, you can approach your training managers for support and opportunity to correct your studies. There are chances to uses Fridays for a 'study day' to make sure you keep your workload manageable.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualifications I am studying for help me learn topics related to manufacturing. I am able to apply the topics I have learnt into the workplace. This gives me the opportunity to also introduce new technologies and methods to the workplace which can benefit the business. Additionally, the qualifications better your personal resumes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are events that are put on such as the 'mountain challenge'. This is where a national park is selected (different each year) and challenges are set for different teams to complete. This is a in-house challenge that a lot of apprentices take part in as well as different teams from around the business.
