Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
At work, Depending on our certain placement we over into different areas of work. At the moment I am working with the tool room with the fitters, depending who is free on the day I will get paired up with a fitter and work on a specific job depending on the extent of it. Most of the stuff that I have been doing is second tool life, PGA conversion and assembling and un-assembling dies. I have also been given the opportunity by one of the fitters to help him out working on building a few of the new dies when I get chance to work with him.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
To a large extent, i do enjoy the programme because it is an interest of mine which I have always wanted to do seeing and seeing family member working in here interested me a lot more. Working in plant is a lot better because it is more hands on and you you get to learn more skills than what you would really learn in college about your job.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Over my time on my placement, I have managed to expand my original Knowledge from my first year and now working in the tool room I have managed to get used to what goes on and what I will be doing in the future. Most of the skills I have learnt are using the pneumatic tools which I will use in the later years to do the work which is needed. As an apprentice though not all the knowledge will be there straight away so it takes time over the grace period to get used to exactly what you are doing.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Personally I think it is highly structured because the amount of support we are given in our time Is highly appreciated. If we ever need help then we have a large amount of people to fall back on and ask for help. They also push you to be the best you can be and can work around any issues.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Personally I think the support we are given is really good because the amount of support we are given in our time Is highly appreciated. If we ever need help then we have a large amount of people to fall back on and ask for help. They also push you to be the best you can be and can work around any issues.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
If you aren't meeting the correct standard that your training provider wants, he or she will push you to get the highest grades you are able to get. If you aren't able to get through to college for help its best to ask your training provider to help you get the message across.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
From the qualifications I was given in my first year, its helped me perform a lot better in my role because I have gained the simple knowledge on how to use specific tools and machines which i will use later on in my time at BMW.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Due to covid-19 for the past few years there haven't been many opportunities. There have been times in the past where other years have done activities like the mountain challenge which is a challenge between all of the plants. we also have a charity teams in which they do events throughout the year to raise money for the company's chosen charity.
